Beautiful gardens at the residency for Art at Sabine Hills

SABINE HILLS, Art Workshop

Every event we host is designed with intention, from the atmosphere we create to the way each session flows.

18-22 June 2026

Our course offers an opportunity for artists to spend a week making art in the Sabine Hills.

The traditional farmhouse, just an hour north of Rome, is ideally located to give artists of all abilities the chance to explore the local history and landscapes while having a drawing and painting holiday.

Charlotte’s Guidance

The week is facilitated by artist Charlotte Andrew whose own practice includes investigation of materials and processes used to make frescoes. The simple methods that I demonstrate in daily workshops, such as preparation of oak gall ink, gesso, and gentle earth colours, and how to enrich them through contrasting colours can be useful, not just for frescoes, but also when painting or drawing. We also grapple with challenges such as how to represent the landscape and culture in two or three dimensions.

An Italian cook is on hand to make the experience even more enjoyable. Later in June the pool may also be ready for swimming.
