Beautiful gardens at the residency for Art at Sabine Hills

SABINE HILLS, Art Workshop

Every event we host is designed with intention, from the atmosphere we create to the way each session flows.

2027 date to be decided

Our course offers an opportunity for artists to spend a week making art in the Sabine Hills.

The traditional farmhouse, just an hour north of Rome, is ideally located to give artists of all abilities the chance to explore the local history and landscapes while having a drawing and painting holiday.

Charlotte’s Guidance

The week is facilitated by artist Charlotte Andrew whose own practice includes investigation of materials and processes used to make frescoes. The simple methods demonstrated in daily workshops are; the preparation of natural inks such as oak gall and walnut, how to prepare a board for painting in the traditional style that includes gesso preparation, and egg tempera made from natural earth pigments. Site visits enable time to sketch the landscape or architecture to provide material that can later be developed during afternoon sessions in the studio.
