Artist Statement

Charlotte Andrew is an artist and teacher. Her practice is concerned with intercultural dialogic art and she prioritises creative and collaborative interactions within the workshops she facilitates.

The implementation of conventional methods such as drawing and pigment preparation is used to respond to historic and prehistoric aspects of making such as cave paintings and the drawings of prehistory.
Practical approaches and applications include making of artist books, traditional preparation of pigments with a focus on ochre and its history, and collaborative textiles and structures/installations.

Whilst these materials and the ideas of exchange are central to her own practice and specialism they do not limit what she can offer participants through the workshops and residency programmes she runs.
